Juan Manuel Etxebarria Ayesta

Bilbo, 1948.

He lives in Galdakao. He holds a PhD in Basque Philology and currently lectures at the University of Deusto.

During the 1960s he studied Philosophy at the Seminary in Derio (Bizkaia). He also did teacher training in Bilbo. He obtained an Arts degree from the University of Deusto in 1982.

His doctoral thesis was entitled Ethnolinguistic Study of Zeberio Valley Basque.

He studied Ethnography as a member of the Etniker group. He has used both standard or unified Basque and the Bizcayan dialect of Basque.

He is a member of the Royal Academy of the Basque Language (Euskaltzaindia).
