Joxean Sagastizabal Errazu

Eibar (Gipuzkoa),1956.

He holds degrees in Economics and Teaching. He was a teacher of Basque for ten yeas with HABE (the organisation run by the Basque Autonomous Community Government for teaching Basque to adults). Since 1994 he has been working in the Basque department of Osakidetza (the Basque Autonomous Community Government's public health service). He lives in Donostia (San Sebastian).

1994 saw the publishing of his novel Kutsidazu bidea, Ixabel (Alberdania). This narrative full of humour tells of the exploits of a new Basque speaker (a person who is in the process of learning the language) on a farm in Tolosa (Gipuzkoa). Over 40,000 copies of it were sold in 2001; it broke records in Basque literature and a CD was produced for students by the Aurten Bai Foundation.

His book Gerturik daukagu odola (Pamiela) is a story which brings together Basque, blood and vampires.
