Iñaki Mendiguren

Ezkio-Itsaso (Gipuzkoa), 1954.

He was born in the old Igartubeiti farmhouse. He did a degree in Humanities (specialising in Modern and Contemporary History) at the University of Deusto in Bilbao.

Having lived in Arrasate (Mondragon) and taught in the area for many years, today he is back in his home town and works as a freelance translator for publishers, companies, organisations, etc. His most important translations into Basque include the following: Tocqueville’s Democracy in America (2 vols.); A. Toynbee’s A Study of History (2 vols.); the Interdenominational Bible in Basque, as a member of the team responsible for translating it; J. Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels; the Harry Potter series: and many other books of literature for children and teenagers.

As far as writing work is concerned he has produced two novels as well as articles for newspapers and magazines.
